This Is Where Recovery Began
Tonight instead of looking through every angle
of the cave,
& instead of proofreading its walls,
the bats just gave lilies
to the orphans of the street.
Who said bats are unable to disseminate
joy?
Who said bats can’t translate their eyes
into jubilant stars?
Light gyrated through the cave. This is
where recovery began.
